Anna Atkins was a photographer that used cameraless photography to produce her artwork. This process or technique is called photogenetic drawing. In this process you get light sensitised paper and put it out in the sun to create an image. She took pictures of British algae by placing it on cyanotype paper to produce pictures of algae. Her main focus was British algae, especially seaweed. She is often considered to be there first person to publish a book illustrated with photographic images.
You can see in this picture she created parts of the algae are overlapping. You can see this in the parts that are more opaque that others. Her images consist of usually blue and white since blue is the colour of the paper. I think the pictures are different compared to other photographers pictures. The patterns created by the seaweed and algae are unique.
